Good old boys network. If you are not from the area your child will be treated like a pariah; even if your household income is higher than all of the administrators combined (not that that should matter). Academics are marginal but consistent with rural southwestern Missouri standards. Zero diversity/intolerant of other cultures/creeds/identities compared to more progressive areas of the country. Athletics are horrendous, (Check school records for the last 10 years...Branson loses in almost every category) and many coaches and techniques are draconian in both nature, and technique; fueled by negative reinforcement (swearing, belittling, bullying athletes.....hence poor performance district wide....). It's sad that the beauty of the area beckons people....who ultimately end up leaving for better opportunities for their kids elsewhere. Drugs are also rampant in this area.... Two years ago this area was the meth capitol of the U.S! You're better off looking in the Ozark or Nixa districts, or private schooling in Springfield, which is what our family ended up doing.

I'm a student here at Branson High, and I love it! I don't know what other school people are complaining about, but this school is amazing. I agree that we do spend a lot of our attention on sports, but we also give a lot of recognition to acedrmics and out of school accomplishments. It's a wonderful community and environment.

These reviews do seem to be placed by teachers and staff. I know many many parents that are upset with the way the school is run. Go to school board meetings and ask: Why has the District been sued something like 6-7 times in the past few years since Hayter has been Superintendent? How much taxpayer money has the district spent on lawyers? I have spoken to many of my daughter's friends and the staff is much more interested in in-school suspensions and taking away lunch privileges than they are interested in teaching. The school is also severely overcrowded and at times the kids are shoulder to shoulder in the hallway -- really. They are much more interested in busting kids for small infractions like not having their school ID photo-out than thinking about why schools exist in the first place. The reviewer that stated that the staff is mostly young kids just out of school pegged it exactly. Many of the teachers are inexperienced and in over their heads. Branson is a wonderful town and the District enjoys a lot of tax revenue. It's just time for new leadership -- everywhere.

Like one of the users stated,Sports are completely overglorified... if your are in any of the teams, trust me your name will always be on the intercom. They don't really reward anybody unless they are a favorite of any of the teachers. I've had excellent grades for the past 3 years of high school. Not a single merit. However...if you play a sport, are a teacher's pet, or are just snobby. You'll feel right at home. For anyone else The administration treats you like a prisoner, 1 minute after everyone has been served lunch, sorry we're closed! Say you have In School Suspension, have fun walking in a line everywhere you go and being displayed to the "good students". Defend your case to any of the teachers, and be yelled at and threatened. There is a police guard there, and he always accompanies a principal, as if any one of us were to strike at him. He ALWAYS has his hand on his gun holster. My mom called the school, and since she's from Japan her English is not very good, I explained so to the lovely Attendance Counselor and the nerve of the woman to say I was lying, that I would get in trouble unless I didnt put her on, she was right next to me so i did.

I have lived in Branson School District since 2006. My oldest daughter graduated in 2009. My oldest son will graduate this year. I have 3 younger children in my family; each one loves this school district. I have often thought that this school district is comparable to any private school in any area. My children have learned life long lessons here in Branson. Highly recomended to everyone thinking about moving in.

Every one of these reviews had to be written by staff. The school is the typical run of the mill school where the staff "especially admin" are completely catered to. It's really their own little kingdom where they can do and get by with whatever they want and when a parent has a problem, trust me you're the only one. No one else has a problem at all. It's all about taking care of the staff and their kids. Most of the staff are young and have no idea how to raise their own kids much less anyone else's. And sports, forget it. Most of the coaches are hired to take care and set records for the staff and admin kids and don't have a clue about what a coach is. Instead they instill fear into the kids and parents with retaliation to cover up the fact that they don't know what they are doing. Unfortunately, these problems are not uncommon in most school in Missouri. Schools here are self operating which means most of the state laws have been retracted and complete control of the school is in the hands of the school board. School boards are filled with the who's who's and chosen ones. The system always has enough power to put who they know will not stir trouble for them.

It's just a fun place to have a school. In a town where there's lots to see and do, Branson High school encompasses what this town's about. Very community driven. Students, teachers, curriculum, sports, music, activities are fun and exciting!
